When using Onix as hose register, we will in many cases replace existing equipment (hose) with a new hose. This may be from the same supplier as before, or from a different supplier.
We need a function to register replacements in Onix:
Select equipment → Register replacement → Find the equipment being replaced (scan or search) → Choose which equipment details and properties to overwrite with information from the replaced equipment – i.e. checkboxes in a list → Transfer interval and due date if needed → Decide whether the active status shall be changed on replaced equipment (inactive/scrapped/not found).
It would also be useful with a possibility to transfer relevant equipment history , documents etc. from old to new equipment.
Such a function should be available on all platforms.
Suggested function is essential to handle replacements in an efficient way, but can also be a good supplement to existing functionality in other contexts.
Example: A facility has a number of loose hoses, with exactly the same information in some fields, same interval and due date. A new batch of hoses is delivered by supplier, without customer-specific information. An easy approach would be to use this function to update equipment details, properties and intervals, without status change on equipment used as «template». In this context, «Report replacement» will be a misleading title of the function. «Transfer data from other equipment» might be more describing?
The specific need described in this example can also be covered via the Product module, but only if relevant products are created and maintaned. Our company would have great benefit of a function like this, and I think others would too.
We define each hose (hose assembly) as a unique equipment.
Hoses with fixed placement are replaced 1:1 with same serial number from supplier, but new Global ID. We also have loose hoses, where serial numbers are used only once. Looses hoses are often delivered in batches of 5, 10 or more.
Functionality to handle replacement will be very important to us. It is relevant not only for hoses, but also other equipment types we plan to manage in Onix.
As you might know, we don’t have the functionality you’re asking for, but we have a possibility to copy an equipment, where you could either choose to have serial number or type in a new one. Have you tested if this function could work for your needs?
I will change the state of this product idea to “In Discussion” to see if other customers might find this useful - so that it could be considered for a future release.
The copy function will unfortunately not suit our needs. Our main supplier delivers equipment (hose) data in Onix, but we need the possibility to transfer additional internal information from existing equipment. Ability to do this, and at the same time change active status on the replaced equipment (when the hose is physically replaced) would be a very efficient approach for us.
