The current size limit for uploading files in Onix Work is 15MB. However, this is too small and causes inconvenience for users. Therefore, Onix Work should allow uploading bigger files.
We have discussed this internally and want to increase the file size of the documents we upload to Onix Work from the Equipment module.
This idea will be implemented in our next release of Onix Work.
I am pleased to inform you that in the latest published version of Onix Work the document size limit for documents to be uploaded is increased to 30 MB.
Hi, 30 MB of file size is sufficient for most of the items. But for some larger items, we have documents up to 150 MB. Splitting these documents is not ideal, since content belongs together and it needs to be rejoined everytime it is forwarded. Reducing file size is not feasible for protected documents, and they need to remain protected to keep their credibility. This is only for 20-30 items in our user case. What solution do you propose?
Hi @Louis_Nollet ,
Thank you for outlining your needs.
Could you please share a bit more about the type of documentation you’re referring to? As the file size appears to be unusually large.
Also, how frequently do you need to upload documents exceeding 30MB?
Hi @nabil.omar,
We have a couple of custom made steel items that are used in heavy lift rigging (spreader bars etc.). The quality documentation includes material certificates, welder specifications, as built drawings, etc. This whole package of documentation is to be provided when the item is used. Therefor it is essential that all info can be stored in the same place. In our case, I don’t foresee more than 20 items that require this large file size. Looking forward to your reply.
Hi @Louis_Nollet ,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
To better understand your workflow, is there a specific reason why the documents you mentioned aren’t kept as separate files?
If they were uploaded as individual documents to the equipment, they would still appear together in the same location when accessed by the user. Additionally, naming each file according to its content could make it easier for workers to quickly find the specific information they need.
Hi @nabil.omar,
Splitting is possible but requires additional work. So the document combining all files is stamped digitally and when splitting the document, the stamp is no longer included.
And some parts are still exceeding 30 MB, up to 70MB for one part. And all together, it is the exact same memory required.
Hi @Louis_Nollet,
Since splitting the documents can be quite cumbersome - and considering we’re not dealing with a large volume - I recommend reaching out to Support whenever you have a document that needs uploading. They have the necessary tools to assist with the upload from the backend.
