Just like there is a counter for job number. it would be great to have a counter for serial number.

If I am an equipment owner that wants to create equipment that doesn’t have a serial number, Onix can help me give it a serial number that will be unique.

It could for example be tools that require calibration where the equipment owner previously haven’t numbered each equipment, but they need to if they wish to use Onix.

The counter can give it a prefix, a new number and a suffix. And the equipment owner doesn’t have to worry about duplicate serial numbers.

  • Biggest concern for this idea: when Onix Work generates a Serial number for you then how are you going to put a serial number on the physical equipment?
  • Workaround: Use Onix ID as a serial number; it is unique in Onix Work and quite short.
