In Onix Work - Equipment module, linking equipment to a product allows for fast, standardized, and accurate data entry. This article explains in detail how equipment is affected when linked to a product.
1. General logic
When you link a product to existing equipment, the equipment updates with the product’s details, properties, and documents only if the relevant fields are empty. Existing data remains unchanged.
However, linking equipment to a product does not affect its pictures.
2. How each section is updated
2.1. Equipment details
When you add a product to an equipment, fields are updated based on the following scenarios:
Scenario | Equipment (before) | Product | Equipment (after) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Empty | Has data | Gets the same data as product |
2 | Empty | Empty | No change |
3 | Has data | Empty | No change |
4 | Has data | Has data | No change |
Examples:
a. The current equipment doesn’t have a model (empty Model field) and the product has a model.
This example is similar to scenario #1. After linking, the equipment’s Model field will have the same value as listed in the product.
b. The current equipment has a different working limit load from the product.
This example is similar to scenario #4. After linking, the equipment’s WLL field will remain the same and not be modified.
2.2. Documents, properties, and job intervals
Linking a product also affects the equipment’s documents, properties, and job intervals:
Scenario | Equipment (before) | Product | Equipment (after) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Empty | Empty | No change |
2 | Has items | Empty | No change |
3 | Empty | Has items | Gets all items of the product |
4 | Has items | Has items | Gets the product’s items that wasn’t available in the equipment previously |
Examples:
a. The current equipment doesn’t have any documents. The product has 3 documents, namely Crane Pre-use Checklist, Crane Instructions and Crane Best Practices.
This example is similar to scenario #3. After linking, the equipment will have 3 document, namely Crane Pre-use Checklist, Crane Instructions and Crane Best Practices.
b. The current equipment has Color = “Blue” and Length (m) = “20”. The product equipment has Color = “Blue”.
This example is similar to scenario #4. After linking, the equipment’s properties will not be modified.
c. The current equipment has 2 job intervals: a 1-month preventive maintenance and a 6-month mandatory inspection. The product has 2 job intervals: a 1-month preventive maintenance and a 12-month mandatory inspection.
This example is similar to scenario #4. After linking, the equipment will have 3 job intervals: a 1-month preventive maintenance, a 6-month mandatory inspection and a 12-month mandatory inspection.
2.3. Pictures
Linking equipment to a product does not affect its pictures, regardless of any pictures that are already linked to the equipment or the product.
