There are several ways to link tags to equipment in Onix.

If that is a tag you bought from Onix, please enter the Onix ID in Onix Work, Onix Worker, or Onix Inspect.

  1. Go to Equipment module.
  2. Search for a desired equipment and open it.
  3. In Equipment details section, click Edit.
  4. Select Onix ID field.
  5. Look for the code printed on your physical Onix Tag and enter it in the field.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Save.

Regardless of whether the tags are bought from Onix or not, you can scan them on Onix Worker or Onix Inspect to link them to equipment.

  1. Go to Equipment module.
  2. Search for a desired equipment and open it.
  3. Click the image scan button.

  4. Scan a tag using your device’s camera.
  5. A message pops up confirming: “The tag has been linked to the equipment.”

If it is not an Onix Tag, Onix supports the following three types of tag values:

  • Short GUID
  • GUID
  • HEX string

Also, tag values must:

  • Comply with ISO standard and be globally unique.
  • For QR codes: the QR code must contain a URL that points to Onix Work. This means scanning the QR code should open a page in Onix Work that shows the related requipment. QR codes that link to other websites or contain plain text values are not supported.

Explanation of each type

1. Short GUID

  • A 22-character string
  • Can contain:
    • Letters A–Z, a–z
    • Numbers 0–9
    • The characters + and /

2. GUID

  • Standard format:
    00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
  • A total of 32 characters, divided into 5 groups separated by hyphens (-)
  • Contains only:
    • Letters A–F, a–f
    • Numbers 0–9

3. HEX string

  • A string consisting only of:
    • Numbers: 0–9
    • Letters: A–F (case-insensitive)
  • Must NOT contain spaces, hyphens, or any other characters
  • Length:
    • From 5 to 40 characters
