How to link tags to equipment

There are several ways to link tags to equipment in Onix, depending on whether it is Onix ID Tags, Onix Tags or vendor tags.

Introduction to tag types

Onix ID Tags

Onix ID Tags are supplied by Onix.

• These are QR code labels or QR + RFID tags where a short code (4–5 digits), called the Onix ID, is printed on the tag.
• Their RFID/EPC always starts with ‘3075AFA11C00005’.

Onix Tags

Onix Tags are supplied by Onix.

• This tag does NOT support Onix ID.
• Its RFID does NOT follow the ‘3075AFA11C00005’ pattern.
• The full RFID string must be treated as a unique identifier.

Vendor tags

If the tags you bought are not from Onix and fall into either of the following tag value types, Onix supports the capability to link tags to equipment.

Note

Tag value must:

• Comply with ISO standard and be globally unique.
• For QR codes: the QR code must contain a URL that points to Onix Work. This means scanning the QR code should open a page in Onix Work that shows the related requipment. QR codes that link to other websites or contain plain text values are not supported.

Short GUID

• A 22-character string
• Can contain:
  • Letters A–Z, a–z
  • Numbers 0–9
  • The characters + and /

GUID

• Standard format:
  00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
• A total of 32 characters, divided into 5 groups separated by hyphens (-)
• Contains only:
  • Letters A–F, a–f
  • Numbers 0–9

HEX string

• A string consisting only of:
  • Numbers: 0–9
  • Letters: A–F (case-insensitive)
• Must NOT contain spaces, hyphens, or any other characters
• Length:
  • From 5 to 40 characters

How to link tags to equipment

Enter Onix ID on Onix Work, Onix Worker, or Onix Inspect

This approach is applicable to Onix ID Tags.

1. Go to Equipment module.
2. Open a desired equipment.
3. In Equipment details, click Edit.
4. Select Onix ID field.
5. Look for Onix ID printed on Onix Tag and enter it in the field.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Save.

Warning

Do NOT use the sample 13E8 code in the picture below. Its purpose is to show you where Onix ID is positioned on Onix Tags.

Note

Onix ID must be unique, which means that you can only link one Onix ID to one equipment.

If you enter an Onix ID code that is already in use, it will be removed from the former equipment and transferred to the new equipment.

Scan tags on Onix Worker, Onix Inspect

This approach is applicable to Onix ID Tags, Onix Tags, and vendor tags that meet Onix requirements.

1. Go to Equipment module.
2. Open a desired equipment.
3. Click the scan button.
   
   
   
4. Scan tag using your device’s camera or scanner. If successful, the app will confirm: "The tag has been linked to the equipment.
