Use the ABAX integration to display the geographic location of your equipment in Onix Work and Onix Worker. After the integration is configured, Onix Work retrieves the last known location of each tracked device automatically and displays it on the equipment map.
What is ABAX?
Onix Work supports integration with ABAX to retrieve GPS location data for equipment.
ABAX provides GPS tracking devices for a wide range of equipment. Available devices include small battery-powered Bluetooth trackers and larger units that require a SIM card and an external power source.
After the integration is configured:
- Onix Work requests the latest location data from ABAX once each day.
- Equipment locations are displayed on a map in Onix Work and Onix Worker.
- Location data is updated daily at 12:00 AM.
To use this integration, you must have an active ABAX account and API credentials.
Set up the ABAX integration
The integration requires configuration in both ABAX and Onix Work.
Set up API access in ABAX
To connect Onix Work to ABAX, you must create API credentials that include a client ID and client secret.
The client ID is available only through an ABAX developer account. If you do not already have a developer account, create one before you continue.
To obtain the client ID from ABAX:
- Visit www.abax.com > Select Resources and Developer API from the navigation bar → Click Login.
- Log in to your account
- Select Production and locate the Dashboard.
- Select Create API Credential
- Enter values for Name and Redirect_uris (any name will do).
- Select Create API Credentials
The new client ID and client secret appear on the dashboard.
Link the client ID to your ABAX account
Before Onix Work can connect to ABAX, the client ID must be associated with your ABAX organization.
- Copy the client ID.
- Send an email to api@abax.no that includes:
- Your client ID
- Your organization name
ABAX Support will complete the association. After the client ID has been linked to your account, you can configure the integration in Onix Work.
Configure the integration in Onix Work
To complete the integration setup:
- In Onix Work, go to Settings > External data-sources > GPS tracking.
- Select ABAX as the provider
- Choose a contact that will be responsible for this integration.
- Insert Client ID and Client secret found in the ABAX dashboard > Select Apply
The integration is now ready for use.
Add ABAX serial number to each equipment
Each equipment that you want to track must include its ABAX serial number.
- In Onix Work, go to Equipment.
- Open the equipment.
- In the Properties section, enter the ABAX serial number for the equipment in the ABAX serial number property and save your change.
The last known location is then displayed on the equipment map.
If the equipment doesn’t have the ABAX serial number property:
- Select Edit in the Properties section
- Select Select properties > Add a property
- Choose ABAX serial number from the list of properties.
